A Support System for Families
The Turlock Family Resource Center (TFRC) serves low-income families with children five years old or younger, and pregnant women who need prenatal care and education. The center also serves families identified as at risk for child abuse or other forms of family violence through the county CPS Differential Response process.
We serve these families in the comfortable atmosphere of a community-integrated center where our family liaisons provide a comprehensive array of family support services, advocacy, and resource referrals.
Services for Families
- Parent education groups
- School readiness programs
- Prenatal education
- Developmental screenings
- Assistance with health insurance enrollment
- Welfare to Work assistance programs
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
The center’s onsite computer lab allows clients and members of the community to search for employment, and learn typing and office skills, budgeting, resume building, and other employment development activities.
The center offers childcare during all classes and support groups so that services are more accessible and to assist parents in nurturing their children. Services are offered in both English and Spanish, and are free to the community. The center is funded by the Stanislaus County Children and Families Commission and the Community Services Agency.
Due to the substantial economic hardships that many of the families we service face, the TFRC also operates a give-and-take program that provides donated furniture, clothing and other necessities to those in need. Donations are always needed. To donate items or service, or to find out how you can help, please contact us today.
